Administration
Shavonya Vaughan was named to her current position, Curriculum Assistant Principal at Aldine Senior High School, in 2022. She was previously an Assistant Principal at Aldine Senior High School. Mrs. Vaughan has been an educator for a total of 16 years, 9 of which have been spent in service to the district.
Before becoming an administrator, Mrs. Vaughan was an elementary and middle school language arts teacher Spring ISD for 7 years. She was the Testing Coordinator at Aldine Senior High School for 2 years.
Mrs. Vaughan earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Texas Southern University and her Master’s degree in Education from Sam Houston State University.
Gina A. Rigsby was named Assistant Principal of Aldine Senior High School in 2015. Ms. Rigsby has both corporate and educational experience, and she has facilitated elementary and secondary education in Curriculum and Instruction, Supervision and Administration. Ms. Rigsby began her teaching career in HISD in elementary education in 1989. Ms. Rigsby has served on the Magnet Schools of Texas Board as President and President-Elect. She has also served as a School Reform Leadership Coach for the Houston A+ Challenge Foundation.
Ms. Rigsby has thirty years of educational experience encompassing all four levels of leadership: elementary, intermediate, middle school and high school. Ms. Rigsby has been an administrator in the Aldine Independent School District for the past twenty-five years, 18 of which were served as Principal of Reed Intermediate School.
Her distinctions and acknowledgements include the 2007 Annenberg Leadership Academy Fellow, and the 2003 Principal of the Year in Aldine Independent School District. Ms.
Ms. Rigsby is a graduate of Texas Southern University, where she received both a Bachelor of Science degree in 1980 and a Master of Education degree in Educational Administration in 1993.
Luis S Acosta was named Assistant Principal of Aldine Senior High School in 2020. He was previously an Assistant Principal in Lewisville ISD and Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD.
Before becoming an administrator Mr. Acosta was an Elementary and Middle school teacher in Alief ISD, Colegio Karl C Parrish in Barranquilla, Colombia and Lewisville ISD. Mr. Acosta has been in education for 26 years.
Mr. Acosta received his Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Austin College Sherman, Texas in 1987 and his Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Montana-Missoula in 2002.
Earnest Washington, Jr. has excitingly extended his service and was named Assistant Principal
of Aldine Senior High School in September 2022. He was previously the Principal of Charles
R. Drew Academy and Assistant Principal at Ruby Reed Academy in Aldine ISD.
Before becoming an administrator, Mr. Washington taught Computer Aided Drafting and Design
(CADD) and Engineering Graphics at George Washington Carver High School for Engineering,
Technology and The Arts. Mr. Washington has been in education for 26 years.
Mr. Washington received his Bachelor of Architectural Engineering degree from Prairie View
A&M University in 1985, and earned his Master’s degree in Educational Leadership also from Prairie
View A&M University in 2000.
Dr. Alexis Cabarcas-Nunez earned a Doctorate (Ph.D.) and Master’s degree in Marine Science from the University of Puerto Rico, and a Bachelor’s degree in Education with a Major in Biology and Chemistry from the University of Magdalena, Colombia. Dr. Cabarcas-Nunez also earned his Principal’s Certification from the University of St. Thomas in Houston, Texas.
Dr. Cabarcas-Nunez served as a Science Teacher at Aldine Sr. High School from 2009-2015; Department Chair & Skill Specialist at Aldine Senior High School and Blanson CTE High School from 2013-2020; and an Assistant Principal at Plummer Middle School from 2020-2022.
Ashley Alfred was named Assistant Principal at Aldine High in October 2022. She previously served as Assistant Principal at Key Middle School in Houston ISD.
Prior to becoming an administrator, Mrs. Alfred taught as a self-contained 3rd-grade teacher and 6th and 8th-grade English Language Arts teacher. Mrs. Alfred has served in education for 9 years.
Ashley Alfred holds a Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management from the University of Houston and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from the University of St. Thomas.
Before becoming an administrator, Mr. Llanas taught Bilingual Kindergarten at Bussey Elementary, Bilingual 2nd-Grade Math/Science at Black Elementary, and AP Spanish at Blanson CTE High School. Mr. Llanas has been in education for 10 years.
Mr. Llanas received his Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies degree from the University of Houston-Downtown in 2009 and earned his Master’s Degree of Education in Administration and Supervision from the University of Houston in 2023.
