On October 2, 2019 Aldine Senior High School had a Hispanic Heritage program in which students proudly celebrated Hispanic
culture. Each grade was chaperoned to the auditorium where the show took place. Once everyone was settled there were two students who spoke in both English and Spanish. The first group who presented was Ms. Rodriguez’s fashion class. They introduced the audience to a presentation of traditional quinceanera dresses : a quinceanera is a Hispanic tradition where a 15 year old girl is introduced into womanhood. After the quinceaneras passed, Ximena Rodarte sings a song by the famous Flor Silvestre : Cielo Rojo. Then we had our band perform a famous Spanish Gypsy Dance piece. Later, Roxana Medrano recited a poem showing the struggles Hispanics face when moving to an unknown country. Finally, the Vaqueras performed to the song “Let’s Get Loud” by Jennifer Lopez. All the participants in the program showed what it’s like to be ALDINE PROUD AND MUSTANG STRONG.
