Upcoming SAT Opportunity – Saturday, August 22
The next SAT administration will take place on Saturday, August 22, and I strongly encourage every senior who has not yet met the Texas college readiness benchmarks—or who would like to improve their score for college admissions and scholarship opportunities—to register for this exam.
Important Registration Reminders
- Registration Deadline: Thursday, August 7, 2026
- SAT Fee Waivers: Eligible students may request an SAT fee waiver through their College Board account or with assistance from their Academic Counselor or CCMR Representative.
- Register Before the Deadline: SAT fee waivers do not cover late registration fees. To avoid paying additional costs, students should complete their registration no later than August 7.
- Digital SAT Device Request: The SAT is now administered entirely in a digital format. If you do not have access to an approved testing device, be sure to request to borrow a testing device (laptop) during your SAT registration through College Board.
- Testing Location: The August 22 SAT will not be administered at Aldine Senior High School. During registration, students will select a College Board-approved testing center of their choice where they will test on Saturday, August 22.
I highly encourage every senior to take advantage of this testing opportunity. August SAT scores are expected to be available in time for many college admissions and merit scholarship deadlines, while also giving students another opportunity to meet the Texas college readiness benchmarks before graduating high school.
Why College Readiness Matters
In Texas, the recommended SAT college readiness benchmarks are:
- 480 in Evidence-Based Reading & Writing
- 530 in Math
- 1010 Combined Score
Meeting these benchmarks demonstrates that you are prepared for entry-level college coursework. Depending on a college’s placement policies, students who meet these benchmarks may be able to enroll directly in college-level courses rather than developmental or remedial courses.
Achieving college readiness can help students:
- Begin earning college credit immediately.
- Avoid developmental coursework that may not count toward a college degree.
- Save valuable time toward graduation.
- Reduce out-of-pocket college expenses for families.
- Strengthen college admissions applications.
- Increase eligibility for merit-based scholarships.
Every point earned on the SAT can create additional opportunities for your future.

Recommended Weekly Study Plan
Consistency is one of the biggest factors in improving your SAT score. I recommend the following study schedule:
Three study sessions each week (approximately 60 minutes each):
Session 1 – Reading & Writing
- Information and Ideas
- Standard English Conventions
- Craft and Structure
Session 2 – Math
- Problem Solving and Data Analysis
- Geometry and Trigonometry
Session 3 – Review
- Review missed questions.
- Revisit weak skill areas.
- Continue practicing personalized lessons in Khan Academy.
Every 1–2 weekends: Complete one full-length Digital SAT practice test using the College Board Bluebook App or Khan Academy, then carefully review every missed question before beginning your next week of studying.
