Library Media Center

Welcome to the library media center page! We have amazing books and online resources for you. Our library has two main sections: fiction and no fiction. In the non-fiction area, you will find information that is based on fact. In the library fiction area, you will find literature that is made from imagination. Besides those two major sections, we have a Spanish section area, short stories and professional books for our educators on campus.

We also have a game area for our students and staff, where we have board games, puzzles and golf putting mat to practice golf!

En el áre de no ficción encontrarán información basada en hechos y datos. En elárea de ficción, encontrarán literatura que ha sido creada a partir de la imaginación. Además de esas dos grandes seciones, contamos con un área de libros en españols, cuentos cortos y profesionales para los educadores en nuestro campus.

También contamos con un área de juegos para nuestros estudiantes y staff, en el que hay juegos de mesa, rompecabezas y hasta una colchoneta de práctica para golf.

We have a lot of books and resources for you, visit our online catalog to search, hold and read our audiobooks and eBooks, or simply click on the picture. Don’t forge to login using your district credentials to browse, hold, renew and even read our eBooks, audiobooks and interactive books.

Students can also access to our online catalog trough classlink, there is a folder under the name “Library Apps” which also will give you access to other applications such as TeachingBooks, Sora, EBSCO databases, etc.

All students have the right to come to thee LMC before first period and during their lunch time with a pass are issued to students who request it at the beginning of the school year. Please consider that we have a limited number of passes and we can removed the pass from any student who do not respect the basic rules at the LMC or that is placed on SAC for any reason. For teachers and staff

Teachers and staff need to know the basics of the library and the services that are available to them,  a teacher’s guide to the library was prepared for them to provide the basics of the library such as our hours, passes, library staff names, examples of how to collaborate with the ILS or librarian among others. Please remember that the ILS is your ally on teaching and collaboration can be done in so many different ways, please contact Mrs. Jimenez for more information.

Copyright is also a sensitive issue, based on that, we created this is an eBook for teachers that includes basic information about intellectual property and copyright  This basic handbook contains videos, presentations, websites, etc. and there are questions that usually teachers have asked, for example, playing movies at school, making copies of books, among others.

Finally, based on the feedback from teachers and staff, an electronic book was created about how to navigate our online resources, they expressed how unfamiliar they were with these resources. The lesson learned from this is to continue providing opportunities to students and teachers to learn about the research process and the use of our databases.

At the library you will find other services that we can do for you, such as request to laminate, use the library for classes or testing, etc.

Any staff member of Aldine Senior High School and La Promesa can request to use the library. If you are planning to bring your students to be taught by the librarian, please make the request at least 2 days before, remember that materials have to prepared to receive your class, these are some ideas of how you can use the library:

Have a regular class at the library

Bring your class to check-out books

Bring your class to play with the board games

Bring your class to start a research and use the databases (class delivered by the librarian)

Only teachers and staff can request lamination, use this form if you already have the material you want to get laminated. A student aide will come to your room to pick the material up. We will use the laminator once a day. We will return your material untrimmed to your room the following 24-48 hours.

Please remove all tape, staples, paper clips, envelope clasps or sharp items protruding from the materials to be laminated as they will damage the rollers.  Items that are too thick or have a gloss finish may not seal. On rare occasions items get damaged during lamination; therefore please a copy for your records.

Only teachers and staff can request to print posters and:

1. All poster requests require 2-3 business days.
2. No “same day” printing available.
3. Print a letter-size color of the document you need poster size
4. Submissions are on a first-come first-serve basis.

5. A student will pick up the document and will deliver it, however you can come to the library and bring it!
