The academic calendar is what sets the schedule for the school year, and we recognize that it impacts the lives of those who live and work in the Aldine ISD community.
Details to note:
- Aldine ISD is a District of Innovation that allows the school year to begin before the fourth Monday in August (8/14/23).
- The calendar must meet a minimum of 75,600 minutes for all students.
- A typical school day is equal to 455 minutes of instruction.
- Early release days count for 420 minutes of instruction.
- Historically, the district has scheduled all staff professional development days at the beginning of the school year before students begin classes.
- Most years, the district has taken off a full week for the Thanksgiving holiday (November 20-24).
- Spring break has traditionally been the second week of March (March 11-15).
Your responses will ensure the calendar committee can develop a calendar that aligns with the district’s goals. The schedule must make the best use of instructional time while ensuring staff members receive adequate professional development.
Please review the two proposed 2023-2024 school calendars and vote for the one that you prefer. Only one response per individual will be recorded.
